Recreating Lasting Memories
Since field care is of the utmost importance, please feel free to call or email me with any questions you have about how to properly handle your trophy animal. The quality of your trophy actually starts in the field.
It is very important to take care of your deer or game heads properly since most deer species have hollow hair. Keep blood and dirt off of the animal as much as possible, especially Antelope. Antelope have white hair that is hollow and will allow blood inside the hair, it is impossible to get this out after it is dried; it makes you mount look rusty. If you are away from home, keep the head as cool as possible. It may be frozen, if that is an option. Try also to keep the head dry, water helps bacteria grow; however, if your trophy has blood or dirt, you can wash it off. Try to avoid dragging the animal where the ground may have contact with some of the hide that will be included on your mount, you can burn the hair right off the hide. Try to tie the animal high enough so the hide that will be on the mount is off the ground. Do not cut the animals throat, it really isn't necessary. Please contact me if you have any questions.
You only need to provide girth and length measurements along with a few good, clear photos.
If you follow these simple procedures in the field, your trophy will show it.
